Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met June 10, 2013, in the High School Board Meeting Room, called to order by the Vice President, with seven directors present and two absent. The board approved the minutes from May 6, 13, and 28, and a suite of financial reports, then approved the bills across the General Fund, bond funds, activities, and food service.

The board accepted Essential Energy Solutions to provide energy management services districtwide, authorized asphalt installation and repair by Pave Rite, and approved a convection oven from TriMark for food service. It authorized an internet auction of surplus food service equipment through Hostetter Auctioneers, approved a technology services agreement with Questeq, and accepted Amcom's print management and leased photocopiers after amending the contract to require 60 days' notice before lease renewal. The board approved field trips for the dance team to Sandusky, Ohio, and the marching band to the Bands of America competition in Towson, Maryland, and reversed and reassigned a portion of the fund balance for future PSERS contributions.

On personnel, the board approved a stipend, a childbearing leave for an employee, substitute staff, winter and fall sports coaching lists, and rescinded a termination notice for an employee. It appointed an employee as Acting Superintendent effective July 1, 2013, filling the vacancy from a retired employee's retirement, and authorized permanent deletion of emails seven or more years old. The board approved the third and final reading of board governance policies 000 through 011, the first reading of PSBA-mandated policies 100 through 105.2, and the elimination of Policy 120. An Assistant Superintendent was recognized as departing for Ambridge, and the retired employee was honored before the meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
