Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met on August 24, 2015, at 7:05 p.m., with the president presiding. Seven directors were present and two absent, and the board heard public comments concerning construction conditions at elementary schools and the personnel items on the agenda. The board approved the monthly bills for the period August 8 to August 21, 2015. It approved an amended facilities lease with Special Education and Behavioral Connections, LLC, adding an escape provision reviewable every five years. The board approved a PAEducator.net contract of service, an MOU with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services for three years, and exonerated the tax collectors from collecting unpaid 2014 real estate taxes. It approved the FieldTurf USA stadium track resurfacing at Base Bid Option C, the administration's recommendation, across three options. The board approved Act 80 days for the 2015-2016 year and adopted the full personnel package, including maternity and FMLA leaves, custodian hires at the High School and McCormick Elementary, substitutes, fall coaching staff, and extra-duty positions across the district. It approved a superintendent contract amendment granting a 3% raise, effective for the 2013-2014 school year. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
