Board of Education Meeting

The April 25, 2016, Moon Area Board of Education meeting, called to order by the president, began with eight directors present (one director absent; another director arriving at 7:05 p.m.). The president noted a prior executive session on personnel litigation. The superintendent's report covered a Questeq IT agreement renewal presentation and a 2016-2017 budget update by an employee.

The board approved district bills across the General, Activity, Food Service, and Capital Projects funds for April 11-22, 2016. It approved Inches Nursery as the lowest bid to weed, edge, and mulch the secondary campus beds and accepted TaylorMade Solutions LLC's proposal to repair the Middle School loading dock ramp. For the website redesign, the board amended an employee's motion to condition approval on the solicitor's contract review, then approved Schoolpointe's proposal. The board approved the 2016 summer help program for Facilities, with one director voting against it. It approved Policy No. 823 (Naloxone) for first and final reading and approved spring sports event staff plus accepted the resignation of an employee from Allard Elementary.

During public comment, a resident pressed the district to explain how its fund balance was "wiped out" over four years; two residents raised concerns about Allard administration changes and the One-to-One initiative, with one resident requesting female High School administration representation. The meeting adjourned at 8:44 p.m. by voice vote.
