Board of Education Meeting - Reorganization Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its reorganization meeting on December 5, 2016, at 7:05 p.m. in the High School Board Meeting Room, called to order by a director. Eight directors were present, with one director absent. A representative from the school district, an employee, and a solicitor sat at the board table.

The board elected its officers for one-year terms. After a motion by a director to close nominations, the directors voted by voice vote to appoint a director as Temporary President. The director who called the meeting to order was then nominated by the Temporary President and elected President of the School Directors by a unanimous voice vote. The Temporary President was nominated by a director and elected Vice President, also by a unanimous voice vote.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m. on a motion by a director, seconded by a director, approved by a voice vote. The minutes were submitted by the Clerk and the Secretary.

This was a brief reorganization meeting in which the board focused entirely on electing its leadership. No budgetary decisions, personnel appointments, program launches, or purchases were made. The only substantive actions were the elections of the director who called the meeting to order as President, the Temporary President as Vice President, and the Temporary President's earlier role as Temporary President.
