Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met on February 12, 2018, in the High School Board Meeting Room at 12:00 p.m., called to order by the Vice President. Present were the Vice President, a director, a director, and a director, with a director attending by phone. Absent were the remaining directors. A representative and an employee sat at the board table, and there were no audience members.

The board approved payment of district bills covering January 21 to February 2, 2018, split across the General Fund, Activity Fund, Food Service Fund, and Capital Reserve Fund, on a motion by a director seconded by a director, approved unanimously on a roll call vote.

The board approved the preliminary 2018-2019 General Fund budget, filed on PDE form 2028 to satisfy Act 1 of 2006 requirements and preserve the Act 1 index exception. The motion, by a director seconded by a director, carried unanimously. The preliminary budget listed the total funds available against the appropriations, with a budgetary reserve and a projected fund balance. The board stressed this was not an estimate of the final budget.

The board approved a calendar change moving the in-service day from March 12 to March 13, 2018, on a motion by a director seconded by a director. It also approved STA drivers as drivers for the 2017-2018 school year, pending receipt and review of clearances, on a motion by a director seconded by a director. All motions passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 12:06 p.m. on a motion by a director seconded by a director. The clerk and the secretary signed the minutes.
