Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met July 24, 2018, in the High School Board Meeting Room at 5:30 p.m., called to order by the president. Present were the president, four directors, and another director arriving at 5:35; two directors were absent. The superintendent filed no report.

The board approved a primary contact for PSDLAF, voting unanimously. It approved a four-year equipment leasing agreement with F.N.B. Commercial Leasing, passing unanimously except for one director, who abstained because she is employed at F.N.B. Commercial Leasing. The board approved a new version of Attachment 815.3, the Laptop Usage, Support, and Maintenance Notice to Policy No. 815, unanimously. It approved Change Order #5 on the Hyde Elementary School Vestibule Project, adding door hardware from WK Thomas & Assoc., unanimously.

On personnel, the board approved several 2018-2019 hires unanimously: two long-term substitute special education and sixth-grade language arts teachers at the Middle School, a long-term substitute French teacher at the High School, and a long-term substitute cyber school teacher at the High School, each at a daily rate plus individual health insurance. It approved a Life Skills PACE Classroom Assistant (ABA) at Brooks Elementary, pending clearances, and a Spanish teacher's childbearing/childrearing leave of absence at the Middle School from about November 27, 2018, to about February 18, 2019.

The board approved the fall sports coaches and volunteers list, recommended by a staff member and pending clearances, covering football, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' golf, girls' volleyball, cross country, girls' tennis, and girls' basketball, along with a team doctor and athletic trainers through an AHN contract. All voted in favor except one director, who voted against Item VII of the supplemental agenda. The board adjourned at 5:45 p.m. The minutes were submitted by the clerk and signed by the secretary.
