Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met February 25, 2019, in the High School Board Meeting Room at 6:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Eight directors were present—the president, and seven other directors—with one director absent. The board approved a package of bills covering February 8 to 21, 2019, across the General, Activity, Food Service, and Capital Reserve funds, voted unanimously. It accepted a drum set donated to the high school music program by a resident, approved the revised 2018-2019 school calendar, and approved lease agreements with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit's Pre-K Counts and DART programs for the 2019-2020 school year. The board approved a four-year sports medicine agreement with the Allegheny Clinic running July 2019 to June 2023, with one director voting against it. It also approved an affiliation agreement with Chatham University to place student athletic trainers in the district, a mutual assistance agreement with the Township of Moon, and an updated PCCD grant application.

On personnel, the board approved a medical leave for a custodian, accepted the resignations of two tennis coaches, and accepted the retirement resignation of the superintendent effective November 8, 2019. It approved 2018-2019 coaches, a pre-student teacher from Chatham University, and two STA bus and van drivers, all pending clearances. The meeting adjourned at 6:28 p.m. by voice vote.
