Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met on May 28, 2019, with eight directors present and a director absent. The president called the meeting to order, and the superintendent recognized the track and field team's state qualification, the district's mascot, and four students who earned the Eagle Scout award.

The board approved bills for the period May 10 to May 23, 2019, across the General, Activity, and Food Service funds. It accepted a delinquent tax approval from Allegheny Land Trust, accepted a municipal advisor agreement with RBC Capital Markets, and approved a consulting agreement with Pittsburgh Behavioral Services for the 2019-2021 school years to provide internal coaching and supervisory support for the district's life skills and ABA classrooms. The board approved a book as the seventh-grade summer read, a school-based probation agreement with the Allegheny County Juvenile Court, and a 2019-2020 services agreement with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.

Two teacher-practicum agreements passed unanimously: a five-year affiliation agreement with Robert Morris University and articles of agreement with Bethany College. The board approved several field trips, including the track and field team's trip to the state meet and the girls' basketball team's camp at California University of Pennsylvania.

In personnel actions, the board approved summer help for an employee, winter sports head coaches, fall sports coaches and volunteers, STA drivers and monitors, a lifeguard, and additional compensation for a department head. The meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m., and the board announced it would meet in executive session to discuss personnel and litigation.
