Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met February 10, 2020, called to order by the Vice President, with 7 Directors present and 2 absent. After an executive session on personnel and legal matters, the board approved the minutes from January 13 and 27, 2020, along with the February financial reports, including the treasurer's, investment, board summary, activities, and procurement card reports. It approved the bills for the period January 24 to February 6, 2020, across the general fund, activity fund, and food service.

The board approved a five-year stack-purchasing agreement with Xenith for football helmets, including annual reconditioning, locking in prices for 5 years. It approved a three-year contract extension with Maher Duessel for auditing and tax-collector services, but tabled the motion after a Director requested that another Director solicit competitive bids. A separate motion authorizing the Director to solicit RFPs for auditing services was added to the agenda and passed.

The board accepted a donation from Hill City Church for the Middle School, approved the Comprehensive and Professional Education Planning Committee members, and approved the Moon Area High School Skiing and Snowboarding organization's annual request to operate. It approved daily field trips, a Speech and Debate trip to Chicago, and a TSA trip to Nashville.

In personnel, the board approved a dishwasher/server at Hyde Elementary, rehired a Middle School dishwasher, granted an employee an extended medical leave, suspended without pay a girls basketball coach, approved spring coaches and event workers, and approved STA drivers, monitors, and a pre-student teacher. The meeting ended at 7:30 pm.
