Virtual Special Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a virtual special meeting on October 7, 2020, called to order by the president at 7:00 p.m., with all 8 directors present and roughly 88 audience members in attendance. The president noted the board had first met in executive session over legal and personnel matters.

The meeting opened with a public statement from a director, who said she had served on the board for 12 years and was withdrawing her name from consideration for a vacant board seat, citing harassment she endured during her most recent term.

The board took two personnel actions. By a motion from a director, seconded by a director, it approved an employee to the position of high school assistant principal, pending clearances, at a salary; all directors voted in favor on a roll call vote. The board then accepted nominations to fill a vacant director seat, again on a unanimous roll call vote. After a director nominated an employee to the vacancy and the floor was closed by motion, the board appointed the employee to the vacancy, with all directors voting in favor.

The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m. on a motion from the president, seconded by a director, passed on a voice vote. The minutes were submitted by the clerk and the secretary.
