Virtual Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its virtual business meeting on November 16, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., with seven directors present and two directors initially absent. The superintendent reported that the county had moved into the "substantial range" of COVID-19 infection, and if that status persisted for two weeks, the PA Department of Education would recommend returning to full virtual learning. The superintendent advised parents to expect virtual instruction through the holidays, with students gathering materials November 23–24 and a tentative return of January 11, 2021. The board also approved the October 7, 12, and 26 minutes and the October financial reports, and authorized the monthly bills for October 23 to November 13.

The board renewed the contract of the Director of Fiscal and School Services through June 30, 2026, approved a Voluntary Placement Agreement for a student, and authorized a progress payment to ABM Building Solutions. It entered a three-year tax collection agreement with Kratzenberg & Associates, d/b/a Keystone Collections Group, accepted a PPG Innovative Classroom Grant for Tech Ed and Middle School STEM, and approved second readings of eight revised policies covering membership, meetings, Title I, student expression, tobacco and vaping, suspension and expulsion, and professional development.

On personnel, the board approved a school psychologist, a special education teacher, and several leaves of absence, substitutes, mentors, student teachers, and winter coaches and event staff. It accepted multiple resignations and a retirement. The board also approved the November bills, adjourned at 8:00 p.m., and a director praised the Eagle Scouts and student athletes and encouraged the public to watch the drama production of *Clue*.
