Virtual Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its January 25, 2021, virtual workshop meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Eight directors were present—the president, Zieger, Dugan, Scappe, Hauser, Partica, Testa, and Hamilton-Archer—with Bogatay absent. The board approved the monthly bills for the period January 8 to 21, 2021, approved a life insurance and AD&D renewal policy for district employees, and authorized a progress payment to ABM Building Solutions minus the pool water optimization amount. The board also approved a Services Alliance Agreement with IntrActvMrktg, LLC for the TapNPay+ app to raise funds for athletic department equipment.

Under personnel, the board approved an apprentice's movement to Journeyman Step 4 effective February 1, 2021; an extended medical leave for a special education teacher; a medical leave for a custodian starting February 10; the resignation of a cyber teacher; and the retirement resignation of a paraprofessional effective April 6, 2021. The board approved mentors for the second semester, extra pay for a cyber teacher, rescinded a bus monitor's extra pay while approving another bus monitor's, approved a building manager at Bon Meade Elementary, and accepted student teachers and interns.

The board approved spring coaches for 2020-2021 and varsity fall head coaches for 2021-2022, contingent upon district reopening and sports program approvals. All directors voted in favor on a roll call vote with the exception of a director, who voted against the appointment of a boys soccer head coach. The meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
