Virtual Special Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a virtual special meeting on July 1, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., called to order by the president. The meeting addressed a single matter: filling the vacancy on the board caused by the resignation of a director. A motion by a director, seconded by another director, sought to appoint an individual for a term running from July 1, 2021, through December 1, 2021. The board then opened the floor to nominations, and the directors split down factional lines. Four directors voted for one candidate, while the other four directors voted for another. The split vote meant no director was appointed, leaving the decision to the Court.

The board then amended the original motion, extending the term to run through 12:00 a.m. December 6, 2021, and naming no specific candidate. All eight directors approved the amended motion on a roll call vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:14 p.m. on a motion by a director, seconded by another director, approved by a voice vote.
