Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its October 25, 2021 workshop meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president. 5 directors were present; 3 were absent. The board had met in executive session beforehand to discuss personnel and legal matters.

The board approved bills for the period October 9–21, 2021, split across the General Fund, Activity Fund, Food Service, and Capital Reserve accounts. It approved a progress payment to ABM Building Solutions under document G702-1992. The board approved a five-year collective bargaining agreement with the Moon Area Education Support Professionals Association, effective July 1, 2021, subject to the union's approval and execution.

It approved the 2021-2022 daily field trips, including a November 16 peer-to-peer empowerment seminar at the North Fayette Community Center and a November 17 Heinz History Museum visit for student athletes, and authorized the varsity swim team to travel to Florida, January 14–17, 2022.

On personnel, the board accepted the resignations of 3 employees, including one retiring employee, and approved a six-to-eight-week childbearing leave for a director. It approved extra pay for an employee on breakfast duty, named an employee as ELD Coordinator, and approved 7 Slippery Rock University and 1 Robert Morris University student teachers. The board authorized the superintendent to fill numerous positions—secretaries, special education assistants, cafeteria, nurse assistants, a school nurse, and long-term substitutes—before the November 15 meeting. It also approved an event worker and an extensive roster of winter event staff for basketball, wrestling, and swimming. All motions passed on roll call votes, and the meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
