Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met November 15, 2021, in the High School Board Room at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Seven directors were present; two directors were absent. The board approved the October 11 and 25 minutes and the November financial reports, approved the monthly bills, authorized Boenning and Scattergood as underwriter for a 2015 refunding, and approved a network vulnerability assessment with Connectivity Communications. It approved a final payment to ABM Building Solutions, a five-year Administrative Compensation Plan effective July 1, 2022, the Student Council's request to operate, and a list of daily field trips through January 2022. Additional approvals covered gymnastics, eighth-grade trips, and an independent rifle competition. The board passed second readings of thirteen revised policies and approved a five-year administrative compensation plan.

In personnel, the board appointed a Director of K-12 Curriculum and Instruction, an ESL Program Specialist, a Special Education Life Skills Assistant, and a Dishwasher/Server. It accepted a resignation, granted medical leaves to two employees, approved internal movements, mentors, student teachers, and authorized the superintendent to fill special education, cafeteria, nurse, and nurse assistant posts before the December 6 meeting. The board also approved winter/spring coaches, an event worker, and three STA drivers. A supplemental agenda added a School Nurse and a mentor for the nurse. All votes passed on roll call. Several directors thanked departing members. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
