Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its June 13, 2022 business meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president, with 6 directors present and 2 absent. The board approved the May 9 and May 23 minutes and associated financial reports, then approved the monthly bills across the General, Activity, Capital Reserve, and Food Service funds. It adopted the 2022-2023 General Fund budget and the final tax levy resolutions, Homestead/Farmstead Tax Resolution No. 2022-3, and a July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 insurance renewal through HHM Insurers.

The board approved a settlement agreement and release for a student, a four-year contract with McGraw-Hill for the Grade 6 "Wonders 2020" English/Language Arts curriculum, a three-year telephone service agreement with Granite, and a yearly contract with Precision HR Solutions to fill support staff absences. It accepted Wipro Industries' donation of 200 novels and a credit for Hyde Elementary, approved the 2022-2023 daily field trips, and passed second readings of Policies 204 (Attendance) and 800.1 (Electronic Signatures/Records), plus third and final readings of Policies 006, 236-1, 810.1, 810.3, 903, and 918.

On personnel, the board accepted resignations and retirements of 4 employees and 3 coaches; authorized the termination of an employee; and approved various leaves of absence for 4 employees. It approved extra pay for an employee, summer remediation facilitators, compensation for a coordinator, 2022-2023 cyber teachers, fall coaches and event workers, and a conference for an employee. The superintendent recognized the girls rugby team and thanked a representative of Premier Pan for a donation to athletics, while a director urged more proactive social and emotional mental health programs. The meeting adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
