Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a workshop meeting on June 27, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., with the president presiding. Directors present were the president, Stuart, Barr, Callahan, Kammerer, and Wise; absent were Bogatay, Harper, and Scappe. The superintendent delivered a report updating the board on Class of 2022 graduation plans, scholarships, and post-secondary attendance, and recognizing student athletes.

The board moved Item 5.04 Personnel to Item 5.01, then approved a per-diem rate for the MAPS Coordinator. It accepted the retirement of the Building Manager at Brooks Elementary, effective August 17, 2022, and approved leaves of absence for an employee (childbearing) and an employee (medical). An employee was appointed Clerk to the Board for 2022-2023, and the employment agreement of an employee as HR, Benefits and Payroll Supervisor was approved through June 30, 2027. The board approved summer remediation facilitators Nathania McCullough and Carlene Charochak, summer ESY paraeducators Hailey Hamilton and Haley Radcliffe, and Mark Pompeo as varsity girls basketball head coach.

The board approved independent contractor rates for the school physician, dentist, optometrist, MAPS coordinator, and social worker, and authorized the superintendent to fill maintenance, guidance, and coaching positions before the July 18 meeting. It approved the monthly bills for June 10-24, 2022, across the general, activity, and food service funds. The board approved revised Resolution No. 2022-3 on the Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion and the 2022-2023 Student Assistance Program agreement with Holy Family Institute (MAPS Program). The meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
