The Moon Area Board of Education held its July 18, 2022 business meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the Vice President. Directors present were the Vice President, Barr, Wise, Harper, Callahan, Kammerer, and Bogatay (via conference call); Zieger and Scappe were absent. The superintendent reported on the summer remediation program.

The board approved personnel items by roll call vote, including accepting the resignations of an assistant principal, a special education personal assistant, and a life skills classroom assistant. A high school principal was reassigned to assistant high school principal, and a new high school principal was approved. Several teachers were approved pending clearances, including an English teacher, a music teacher, and a special education teacher, plus long-term substitute teachers and a custodian. The board also approved leaves of absence for two employees, an internal movement for an employee, and spring and fall/winter coaches per recommendation of an employee.

The board approved the June 13 and June 27 minutes along with July financial reports, and approved the monthly bills for late June and early July. Other approvals included the AIU Pre-K transition memorandum of understanding, renewal of the Wesley Family Services school-based therapeutic services agreement, an InterCare Health Systems independent contractor agreement, and a two-year KW Legacy Photography agreement. A director voted in disfavor on the photography agreement. The board approved daily field trips for 2022-2023, including an August 10 Kennywood Park trip, and approved third and final readings of revised policies 204 (attendance) and 800.1 (electronic signatures/records). The meeting adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
