The Moon Area Board of Education held its August 22, 2022 workshop meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Nine directors were present, along with the superintendent and the district's solicitor. The board approved the monthly bills for the period August 6–19, 2022, split across the General Fund, Activity Fund, Food Service, and Capital Reserve. A director questioned several line items, including water bills, a new vehicle for student transportation, Johnson Controls' fire-safety services, and contracted window cleaning. The board then granted the superintendent authority to approve building disposal lists for consumables, old textbooks, and damaged equipment, approved the 2022-2023 Health and Safety Plan Summary, and approved the Title I and Title IIA non-public school agreements.

The bulk of the meeting covered personnel. The board approved several new hires, including a teacher, plus two long-term substitutes. Other hires included a dishwasher/server, an HVAC apprentice, and an assistant nurse. The board accepted the retirements and resignations of three employees and approved a medical leave of absence for an employee. It approved mentors for inductees, awarded tenure to an employee, and authorized the superintendent to fill additional positions—ESY paraprofessionals, building assistants, cafeteria roles, a high school assistant nurse, and a long-term substitute math teacher—before the September 12 meeting. The board also approved STA drivers for the school year.

Nearly the entire remainder of the meeting was spent approving extra-pay positions across Allard, Bon Meade, Hyde, the middle school, and the high school, covering bus monitors, class sponsors, and activity coordinators. Spring coaches were approved per the recommendation of an employee, along with event workers for the fall sports season. The meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m. on a motion by a director, seconded by a director.
