September 26 (Special Board Action)

The Moon Area School District board held a special workshop meeting on September 26, 2022, approving a series of actions covering finances, personnel, and programs. The board authorized the monthly bills for the period September 10 to September 23, 2022, split across the General Fund, Activity Fund, Food Service, and Capital Reserve Fund. It also renewed a one-year agreement with Questeq for e-rate filing services for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved a two-hour delay schedule for high school students during the Spring Keystone tests on 6 dates in May, with testing students arriving at the regular time. It adopted the Emergency Instructional Time template for 2022-2023 and approved several daily field trips, including a pumpkin trip and visits to Duquesne and Washington & Jefferson colleges. Travel approvals included a girls softball trip to Myrtle Beach and an 8th-grade trip to Gettysburg and Hershey Park.

On personnel, the board approved 2 custodians, a dishwasher/server, and a life skills classroom assistant, all pending clearances. It accepted the resignations of 2 employees, and granted leaves of absence to 5 staff members. The board approved a stipend for a school psychologist intern, authorized 2 teachers to teach a sixth class, awarded tenure to a teacher, and approved a step adjustment for a teacher. Additional approvals covered internal movements, extra-duty pay, fall event workers and coaches, a student teacher, and authorization to fill several positions before the October 10 meeting.

The board also approved 3 conferences, including a child accounting conference and a secondary literacy program that requires substitutes.
