Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its October 24, 2022, workshop meeting at 7:10 p.m., called to order by the president, who noted the board had met in executive session beforehand on personnel and legal matters. All nine directors were present.

The board approved bills across the General, Activity, and Food Service funds. It adopted Resolution No. 2022-4 to comply with Act 57 of 2022, waiving certain real estate tax late-payment charges effective July 1, 2023. The board approved a Pacific RS28 floor scrubber for the high school gymnasium and accepted a revised donation from the Moon Area Education Foundation, amended upward from the previous amount. It approved Veeam/Wasabi cloud backup through Advizex for the first year and thereafter.

The board authorized a student to compete independently in the WPIAL Rifle competition, approved voluntary winter indoor track participation, and approved the full list of daily field trips for the 2022-2023 school year. In personnel, it approved a high school assistant nurse, accepted a middle school custodian's retirement, granted several leaves of absence, approved a volunteer dance team coach, approved Slippery Rock University student teachers, and authorized hiring paraprofessionals, building assistants, cafeteria staff, and a long-term substitute math teacher.

The board approved three conferences, amending the list to add a student to the Adolescent Literary Institute, bringing the total district cost to a specific amount. The meeting adjourned at 7:27 p.m.
