Board of Education Meeting - Reorganization Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its reorganization meeting on December 5, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., called to order by the School Board President. Directors present included the School Board President, Harper, Bogatay, Wise, Stuart, Callahan, Kammerer, and Barr, with Scappe attending by conference call. Solicitors Balaski, Drylie, Haslett, and Vogel were also present.

The board opened with a holiday music presentation by the band's flutists, followed by recognition of the school's soccer teams. The Boys Varsity team finished 21-1-1 as Section and WPIAL Champions, with several players earning All WPIAL honors and a student-athlete receiving WPIAL Player of the Year, All-State, and All American recognition. The Girls Varsity team went 24-0 to claim Section, WPIAL, and PIAA titles, marking the fifth state championship in eleven years.

On motions, the board elected its officers for one-year terms. The School Board President was appointed Temporary President on a voice vote. Amy Stuart was elected Board President on a roll call vote, with the board resolving to authorize her service. Patrick Callahan was elected Vice President on a roll call vote, with the board resolving to authorize his role. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m. on a motion by the Vice President, seconded by Wise.

The Clerk and the Secretary signed the minutes. No personnel appointments, budget decisions, or program approvals were recorded in this reorganization meeting, which focused solely on electing board leadership and celebrating athletic achievements.
