Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area School District Board of Education held a workshop meeting on May 22, 2023, approving a range of personnel, financial, and policy actions.

On appointments, the board approved an Elementary Principal and a Middle School Assistant Principal, both pending clearances with start dates to be determined. An Accounting Coordinator was approved for the Business Office effective July 1, 2023. The board accepted the resignations of a School Psychologist (effective June 30, 2023) and a High School Science teacher (effective June 2, 2023), and approved leaves of absence for a Pupil Services Administrative Assistant and a High School Cook.

For summer staffing, the board approved a substitute ESY Elementary Emotional Support teacher, three ESY Personal Care Assistants, and a list of summer help workers, several pending clearances. The board also authorized the superintendent to fill paraprofessional, cafeteria, bus driver, ESY, and summer help positions before the June 12 meeting.

Financially, the board approved the monthly bills for May 6–19, split across the General, Activity, and Food Service funds. It approved the proposed 2023–2024 final budget with a millage rate of 23.7856.

On policy, the board approved the first and final reading of amended Policy No. 827 on Conflict of Interest and voted to censure an employee arising from Order #1817 of the State Ethics Commission.
