Moon Area School District's 2024-2027 Future Ready Comprehensive Plan

The Moon Area School District board approved the 2024-2027 Future Ready Comprehensive Plan, which was signed by the Chief School Administrator. The plan targets two priority goals: developing an articulated assessment plan with a shared assessment calendar by 2027, and expanding social-emotional learning supports so students apply decision-making and coping skills.

The assessment goal assigns the Director of Data and Analysis to build the plan, with quarterly "report card style" performance releases. The SEL goal assigns the Director of Pupil Services, drawing on AIU consultative support, the Bradley Center, and Wesley Family Services, and establishing a mindfulness resource library for staff. Both run through June 2027, with professional development delivered through peer coaching, data meetings, and professional learning communities.

The plan addresses a growing enrollment—about 4,106 students across seven buildings—with new housing developments driving projected increases. It flags persistent achievement gaps, especially in mathematics, and notes that English Language Learner, Students with Disabilities, and economically disadvantaged subgroups lag behind peers on PSSA and Keystone results. The district exceeds state averages in ELA and science and in six of eight schools for math.

The document lists dual-credit articulation agreements with the University of Pittsburgh (Statistics, Physics), Robert Morris University (Accounting), and LaRoche (Microsoft Office Applications). It also highlights the SmartFutures Career Education and Work platform and a districtwide one-to-world laptop or iPad program. The steering committee, chaired by administrators including an administrator and an administrator, included board members, staff, students, a parent, and community members. No separate votes, appointments, purchases, or budget actions were recorded beyond approval of the plan itself.
