Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its April 8, 2024 business meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Eight directors were present, with one director absent; the board had earlier met in executive session over personnel and legal matters.

The board approved the March 11 minutes and April financial reports, then authorized the monthly bills across the General, Activity, Food Service and Capital Reserve funds. It approved several contracts: Draw Collective for architectural CADD files of the former high school and middle school; Howard Technology Solutions for a 10-year Rhombus camera licensing agreement with cabling; a five-year phone service agreement with Full Service Network; and a three-year photography agreement with KW Legacy Photography, to which a director abstained. The board also approved an educational service agreement with Adelphoi Education for out-of-district placements.

Other approvals included a Marching Band trip to the University of Delaware for 3 buses and a long list of daily field trips through May. In personnel, the board hired two custodians, approved several medical and unpaid medical leaves, accepted multiple resignations and retirements, approved a mentor, named 2024 fall varsity head coaches, authorized student teachers and interns, and directed the superintendent to fill cafeteria, paraeducator, building assistant, custodian, substitute custodian and bus driver positions.

Reports covered athletic recognitions, Parkway West SkillsUSA placings, an MTA projected budget, and upcoming school events. The meeting adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
