Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its June 10, 2024 business meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the Vice President. Directors present were the Vice President, Wise, Simmons, Gill, Kammerer and Callahan; Stuart, Sainovich and White were absent. The board had met in executive session beforehand on personnel and legal matters.

The board approved the May 13 and May 28 minutes along with the June financial reports, and authorized payment of the monthly bills from the General Fund, the Activity Fund, the Food Service Fund and the Capital Reserve Fund. It approved the Penn State Beaver Dual Enrollment Agreement, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit Comprehensive Services Agreement for 2024-2025, and an addendum for School-Based Access Program Support Services.

The board passed the first and final reading of Policy 103 on Discrimination/Title IX Sexual Harassment, the first reading of Policies 137.3, 200, 202 and 210, and the second reading of Policies 006, 109, 137, 137.1 and 137.2.

On personnel, the board accepted the resignations of two employees, approved a new High School Dishwasher/Server, granted sabbaticals to two employees, approved an ESY substitute, authorized extra-duty pay for an employee and speech/debate co-sponsors, approved an internal movement for a Middle School Cafeteria Manager, and authorized summer help custodians. It also authorized the superintendent to fill substitute custodian, bus driver and ESY positions before the June 24 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
