Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a workshop meeting on February 24, 2025, called to order by the president at 7:00 p.m., with nine directors present and a prior executive session on personnel and legal issues noted. The superintendent's report recognized 13 art students whose work now decorates the Central Office and praised the weekend's basketball tournament.

The board approved the monthly bills for February 8–21, accepted a grant for Brooks Elementary, and authorized two swing sets from General Recreation, Inc. for Bon Meade Elementary via Co-Star Contract #14. It approved the IDEA Part B use of funds agreement for 2025–2026 and a five-year affiliation agreement with Carlow University for student placements. Three marching band trips passed: Cedar Point in Ohio on June 5, Washington and Jefferson College band camp August 3–8, and a regional competition at the University of Delaware October 25–26 with an honorarium. The board also approved the 2024–2025 daily field trip schedule.

On personnel, the board hired a building assistant at McCormick Elementary, accepted the retirements of two employees and the resignation of an employee, and approved leaves for three employees. It raised substitute custodian pay, approved varsity spring track and field coaching changes and volunteers, event workers, STA drivers, and authorized the superintendent to fill districtwide positions before the March 10 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
