Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its March 24, 2025 workshop meeting at Parkway West Career and Technology Center, called to order by the president. Seven directors were present; two were absent, and the board had earlier met in executive session over personnel and legal matters.

The board approved bills across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity Funds for the period March 8–21, 2025. It adopted Resolution No. 2025-4, authorizing general obligation notes to refund outstanding debt and fund capital improvements. The board approved continued participation in the Kennedy School of Driving End-of-Course Skills Test Program for 2025-2026, a student teaching affiliation agreement with the American College of Education for the same year, and a school picnic on June 16, 2025. It approved a dance team field trip to the PA Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg on April 25–26 at no cost to the district, along with a list of daily field trips through May.

On personnel, the board accepted the retirements of a social studies teacher and a custodian, approved several leaves of absence, a long-term substitute extension for a Grade 4 teacher at Bon Meade Elementary, extra pay for a cyber teacher and a bus monitor, approval for teachers instructing sixth classes, authorization to hire bus drivers, and a volunteer softball coach.

Construction updates covered the high school, middle school, and elementary projects, with the stadium renovation and tennis court relocation still pending a vote. The board approved putting the Central Operations building out for bid and was asked to approve a purchase from a resident to expand parking, tennis courts, and building access. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
