Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its June 9, 2025 business meeting at 7:15 p.m., called to order by the president, with seven directors present and two absent. The board approved the minutes from May 12 and 27, 2025, along with the June financial reports covering the treasurer's, investment, board summary, high school/middle school activities, and procurement card statements.

The board approved bills for payment, split between the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds. It approved a five-year contract for the superintendent running July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030. The board authorized CJL Engineering for commissioning services on new construction, funded through the Bond Issue Fund. It awarded TriMark a dishwasher bid for McCormick Elementary from the Cafeteria Fund, and awarded Allegheny Refrigeration Sales an outdoor walk-in freezer/cooler combo for Allard Elementary, also from the Cafeteria Fund.

The board approved an Educational Services Agreement with The School at McGuire Memorial for specialized and extended school year services, plus a contract with Pediatric Therapy Specialists running July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027. It approved the MAHS Choir's Annual Request to Operate for 2025-2026 and passed second readings of five revised policies covering organization, employment contracts, conduct procedures, uncompensated leave, and opioid antagonists.

On personnel, the board accepted the resignation of a special education teacher, approved a childbearing leave for an employee, authorized extra-pay cyber teachers across all levels, and approved fall sports coaches and summer help workers, all pending clearances. It authorized the superintendent to fill substitute custodian, bus driver, ESY, and summer help positions before the June 30 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
