Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a workshop meeting on June 30, 2025, called to order by the president, with eight directors present and the superintendent delivering a farewell report. The board approved district bills across five funds. It appointed the district assistant superintendent for a July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2030, term, passing on a roll call vote with one director abstaining. The board adopted the final 2025-2026 General Fund Budget with 100,229,853 in expenditures and a 25.2831-mill rate, along with the Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion Resolution and the final tax levy Resolution No. 2025-6, which raised real estate mills to 25.2831.

The board approved insurance renewals with Assured Partners covering Commercial Package, General Liability, Automobile, Crime, Cyber, and Workers' Compensation, and awarded a three-year trash and recycling contract to County Hauling. It approved a Post-Secondary Transition Program at Hyde Elementary, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Township of Moon for the School Resource Officer Program through 2028, a Class Academy Services Agreement, a Title I Non-Public School Agreement with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and a field rental agreement with Friends of Pittsburgh Professional Soccer. A conference cost for an employee's attendance was approved.

On personnel, the board hired ten teachers and principals across several schools, including a high school principal, and approved a medical leave for a principal at Allard Elementary. It hired a clerk to the board, plus paraeducators, STA drivers, summer help workers, and authorized the superintendent to fill additional positions before the July 14 meeting. The board accepted the resignations of two baseball coaches and approved numerous fall, winter, and spring sports coaches. In the final personnel vote, the president abstained on one item and two directors voted against another. The meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
