Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education met October 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Nine directors were present; one director was absent. The board approved the September 8 and 22 minutes and the October financial reports, and approved the bills across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds.

The board's two real-property motions failed. Directors voted against approving the purchase of the property as a Parkway West Jointure District, and against seeking financing for it, with only one director voting in favor on both. Bids for the tennis courts and central operations and receiving building were tabled rather than accepted.

The board approved a one-year rental agreement with Steel City Aquatics and another with Tiger Aquatics for the pool and locker rooms, both effective October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. It accepted a donation from Moe's Southwest Grill for Battle of the Books books, approved a settlement agreement and release with student ID #51642, and authorized agreements with Amergis Healthcare Staffing, River Therapies (a contracted social worker 2.5 days per week), and Robert Morris University for internships and high-school enrollment.

The board approved numerous personnel actions, including three resignations, medical and childrearing leaves, extra-duty pay, remediation facilitators, extra prep pay, internal movements, spring coaches, and school-year custodians, and authorized the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, and support positions before the October 27 meeting. It approved first readings of five revised policies and first-and-second readings of a generative AI policy, plus field trips, clubs, and daily field trips. The meeting closed after discussion of the Girls Flag Football team's request to become a school-sponsored sport, with the administration to follow up.
