Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its October 27, 2025, workshop meeting at Parkway West Career and Technology Center, called to order by the president, with eight directors present and one absent. The board approved bills for October 11-24, split between the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds. It adopted Resolution No. 2025-9 to join the Allegheny Intermediate Unit Joint Purchasing Program for 2026-2027.

The board approved a Cengage Learning/Gale database subscription, along with approvals for the National Honor Society club, updated middle school clubs, a full schedule of daily field trips, and a cost-free spring-training trip for the baseball team to Tampa in March 2026. It accepted a UV mat sanitizer donation for wrestling and approved the third and final reading of Policy 815.1 on generative artificial intelligence. Conferences approved included a Safety Care recertification for a trainer, an art department trip, and the superintendent's PASA leadership academy.

On personnel, the board hired an English language development teacher, a learning support assistant, and approved a medical leave for a fifth-grade teacher. It removed a Spanish credential, added a PBIS coach and remediation facilitators, and gave a department head a payment. It approved numerous coaches across swimming and diving, wrestling, softball, and girls rugby, along with transportation staff and authorization to fill administrative, professional, and support positions before the November 17 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
