Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its November 17, 2025 business meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Nine directors were present, and the board had met in executive session beforehand on personnel and legal matters.

The board approved the minutes from October 13 and 27, 2025, along with the November financial reports, voting unanimously. It approved bills across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds; a director abstained on one SiteLogiq construction bill due to a conflict of interest. The board approved a transfer from the General Fund to the Capital Reserve Fund, and authorised an independent consultant to inspect the stadium turf for installation defects.

Other approvals included a one-time donation to the Girls Flag Football team, acceptance of 12 Champro basketball uniforms from the Moon Tigers Basketball Club, first reading of Policy 807.1 on display of flags at half staff, and second reading of five policies covering discrimination/harassment, conduct/discipline, travel reimbursement, and conflict of interest. The board also approved a no-cost German department field trip to Switzerland, Austria, and Germany in June 2027, a list of daily field trips, dance team travel to Ohio, and staff conferences.

On personnel, the board hired two Life Skills Classroom Assistants, changed a director's title to Safety and Operations Director, approved several medical and sabbatical leaves, internal movements, extra prep pay, student teachers, winter and spring volunteer coaches, and accepted two coaching resignations. It rescinded approvals of two sixth-class assignments and approved an employee teaching a sixth class. The board authorised the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, and support positions before the December 2 meeting.

In board comments, outgoing members thanked one another and welcomed three incoming members. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
