Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its December 2, 2025, business meeting at 7:15 p.m., called to order by the president, who noted the board had met in executive session beforehand and welcomed the newly elected members. The superintendent's report stressed collaboration between administration and the board, and he thanked a judge for administering the oaths of office.

The board approved the minutes from November 17 and 24, 2025, along with the December financial reports, on a roll call vote. It approved bills for payment, split between the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service Fund, and Activity Fund, also by roll call. The board accepted a donation from Moe's Southwest Grill for the Battle of the Books program at Allard Elementary School, approved the Moon Area Middle School Youth for Christ club's annual request to operate for 2025-2026, and approved the full list of daily field trips for the school year, including trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo, PNC Park, and Carnegie Museum.

On personnel, the board accepted a school nurse's resignation at Brooks Elementary, approved a Life Skills Classroom Assistant at Bon Meade Elementary, and granted medical and family medical leaves of absence to two employees. It approved internal movements for two employees, accepted three pre-student teachers, and approved two spring baseball coaches. The board also accepted four STA van and CDL drivers, and authorized the superintendent to fill various administrative, professional, and support positions before the January 12, 2026, meeting.

After an employee personally congratulated the new members, the president commented on the board now functioning as a full team of 9. The meeting adjourned at 7:28 p.m. on a voice vote, with all directors voting in favor on every matter.
