Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its January 12, 2026 business meeting at 6:00 p.m., called to order by the president. Eight directors were present, with one director absent; the board had met in executive session beforehand on personnel and legal matters.

The board approved the December 2 minutes and the November financial reports, then approved the monthly bills across the General Fund, Capital Reserve, Food Service, and Activity funds. A director abstained from the vote on a payment to SiteLogiq Construction Management, citing a conflict of interest.

The board approved the Moon Area Middle School's annual request to operate the DnD Club, and signed service agreements for Corey Transition Consulting to train paraprofessionals and for Ames Janitorial Services to provide substitute custodians through June 30, 2026, pending solicitor approval. It approved the 2025-2026 daily field trip list and authorized two team trips: the speech and debate team to Bloomsburg University in March for the state tournament, and the dance teams to Newark, Ohio, on January 25 at no cost to the district.

The board accepted four donations: a donation from a family for Brooks, matched by PPG; a donation from Howard Industries for Unified Bocce uniforms; a donation from McDonald's to the athletic department; and a wrestling record board from the Moon Takedown Club. It approved a conference for an employee and authorized the superintendent to attend conferences over a certain amount.

On personnel, the board accepted the resignation of an employee and approved leaves of absence for five staff members. It approved long-term substitute positions for a teacher and a librarian, authorized an employee to teach a sixth class plus an extra prep stipend, approved extra-duty pay at Bon Meade and Allard Elementary schools, approved two internal movements, and authorized the superintendent to fill various positions before the January 26 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 6:22 p.m.
