Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its February 9, 2026, business meeting at 7:08 p.m., called to order by the president. Nine directors were present, with one director joining by conference call. Before the meeting, the board convened in executive session over personnel and legal matters.

The board approved the minutes from the January 12 and January 26 meetings, along with the February financial reports, and authorized the monthly bills across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds, all passed on a roll call vote. It approved the 2026-2027 school calendar and the high school Program of Studies for that year, and adopted a list of field trips and spring sports travel for the remainder of the 2025-2026 year.

In personnel actions, the board hired a Learning Support/Life Skills Assistant at the middle school, plus Life Skills and custodian positions at the high school, a Life Skills Classroom Assistant at Allard Elementary, and a SAT Coordinator at the high school. It granted medical and family leaves to three employees, approved extra-duty stipends including rescinding and reapproving several items, authorized spring sports coaches and volunteer coaches, and permitted the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, support, substitute, and transportation roles before the February 23 meeting.

The board heard reports on Parkway West's March 3 open house and August 19 return date, the Moon Transportation Authority's stalled Stevenson Mill Connector site and planned electric bus garage, and a sports sponsorship package for the new stadium, whose demolition had begun. The president praised the administration's handling of weather-related safety and remote learning days, and the superintendent thanked staff and the technology team. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
