Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a workshop meeting on February 23, 2026, called to order by the Vice President. Nine directors were present, with two directors absent. The board approved bills for payment across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity Fund for the period February 7 to February 20, 2026. All directors voted in favor except one director, who abstained from the vote on Sitelogiq Construction due to a family conflict of interest. The board granted the Superintendent authority to approve change orders, with all approved orders presented at the next meeting. It approved a Field Rental Agreement with Friends of Pittsburgh Professional Soccer to secure facility usage for the Boys' and Girls' Lacrosse programs during stadium renovations. The board approved the 2025-2026 field trip schedule, including trips to FedEx, PPG Paints Arena, Heinz Hall, and PNC Park, plus dance team competitions in Ohio and a French Department trip to Quebec. It adopted Resolution No. 2026-3 establishing a Statement of Charges against an employee.

In personnel actions, the board accepted the retirement resignations of four employees, along with the resignations of a head coach and a middle school special education teacher. It approved a long-term substitute Spanish teacher and a Life Skills Classroom Assistant. The board corrected a substitute pay rate, approved medical and family medical leaves for four employees, and extended a long-term substitute. It approved internal movements, a remediation tutor, and numerous spring sports coaching changes under a director, including baseball, volleyball, softball, flag football, and tennis positions. The board also approved pre-student teachers, two STA drivers, and authorized the Superintendent to fill administrative, professional, support, substitute, custodial, and bus driver positions before the March 9, 2026 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
