Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its March 9, 2026 business meeting at 7:00 p.m., called to order by the Vice President. Eight directors were present; one director was absent. The board approved the February 9 and 23 minutes and the March financial reports, then approved the monthly bills split across the General, Capital Reserve, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds. It adopted the 2026-2027 Allegheny Intermediate Unit Program of Services Budget, with the district's estimated contribution, and approved the IDEA Part B use-of-funds agreement for the new school year.

The board awarded Interior Supply, the lowest bidder, a ceiling-tile purchase for Hyde School from the Capital Reserve Fund, and signed a Keysolutions Educational Staffing agreement, running through June 30, 2027. It approved a full schedule of field trips and adopted revised PSBA/MASD policies, including a second reading of Policy 807.1 on half-staff flags and a final reading of policies on discrimination/harassment, conduct/discipline, federal travel reimbursement, and conflict of interest.

On personnel, the board accepted the disability retirement of a teacher, accepted the resignations of a Learning Support Assistant and a custodian, and rescinded a custodian employment offer. It approved an extended childrearing leave for a school psychologist, an involuntary transfer of an employee, a title change for an employee to Director of Transition Services, remediation substitute tutors, a substitute clerk stipend, a mentor pairing, middle school extra-duty pay changes, a spring sports coach change, and 2026-2027 student teachers from Slippery Rock University. It authorized the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, support, substitute teaching, substitute custodian, and bus driver positions before the March 23 meeting. The superintendent announced the March 10 stadium groundbreaking, and an employee praised the recently held All-District Concert. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
