Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a workshop meeting on March 23, 2026, called to order by the president, with nine directors present and a fourth director in attendance. The board approved district bills for the period March 7 to March 20, 2026, split across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity Fund. All directors voted in favor, though a director abstained from the vote on Sitelogiq Construction due to a family conflict of interest.

The board tabled a three-year contract extension with Direct Energy Business, LLC (NRG) for power supply and electricity services beginning January 2027, pending a formal presentation and additional information. It approved a four-year deputization agreement with Jordan Tax Services, Inc. as Moon Township Tax Collector, commencing January 1, 2026. The board also approved a Sports Dome and Track & Field License Agreement with Robert Morris University Island Sports Center, effective March 9 through May 19, 2026, pending solicitor review.

The board accepted donations of three Daktronics lane modules from the Flipturn Club and two from Tiger Aquatics. It approved numerous field trips for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year, including a Mock Trial Team trip to Harrisburg with anticipated costs not exceeding a set amount. The board approved the RMU in the High School enrollment agreement and a Concurrent Enrollment Agreement with LaRoche University for the 2026-2027 school year, along with two conferences.

In personnel actions, the board accepted the resignations of four staff members, approved a long-term substitute special education teacher, granted a family medical leave to a mathematics teacher, and approved internal movements, volunteer coaches, and fall sports coaching staff. It authorized the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, and support positions before the April 13 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
