Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area School District Board of Education approved the March 9 and March 23 meeting minutes and a set of April financial reports, including the treasurer's, investment, board summary, high school/middle school activities, and procurement card reports. The board authorized the monthly bills for payments made March 21 to April 10, 2026, split across the general, capital reserve, bond issue, food service, and activity funds. It also exonerated the tax collectors from collecting unpaid 2025 real estate taxes.

The board approved a list of daily field trips for the 2025-2026 year, a dual credit agreement with the University of Pittsburgh for 2026-2027, and a special education plan covering July 2026 to June 2029. It signed an agreement with The Bradley Center School for student mental health services and took first reading of revised Policy 304.2 on advanced step placement for professional employees, plus final reading of Policy 807.1 on display of flags at half-staff.

On personnel, the board hired a high school custodian, accepted the retirements of 3 teachers, and accepted a cafeteria monitor's resignation. It granted leaves of absence to 3 employees, approved graduation speaker stipends for 2 students, moved an employee into the high school custodian role, named an employee a Safety Care Trainer, and authorized 2 teachers to teach supplemental sixth classes. The board also cleared student teachers, STA drivers, and athletic trainers.

In athletics, the board rescinded 2 football coaching approvals, approved changes to fall football coaches, named 2 volunteer hockey coaches, and authorized the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, support, substitute, and bus driver positions before the April 27 meeting.
