Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held its June 8, 2026, business meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the High School LGI Room, called to order by the president. Eight directors were present; one director was absent. The board approved the May 11 and May 26 minutes and the June financial reports, and approved the monthly bills across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds. It terminated its cooperative sponsorship agreement with Sewickley Academy for football, effective immediately, and approved a rental agreement with the West Allegheny School District for stadium use on October 16, 2026.

The board approved meeting dates for 2026-2027 and signed several service agreements, including Practicum and Internship affiliations with Malone University and Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit, a CLASS Academy agreement, a two-year transportation agreement with Assist Services LLC DBA Buckled In (July 2026-June 2028), a River Therapies social work proposal beginning August 1, 2026, and a renewal of a support counselor for the MAPS Program through PK&S LLC. It approved the third reading of Policy 304.2 on Advanced Step Placement for Professional Employees.

On personnel, the board accepted resignations of a custodian and a coach, rescinded the ESY paraeducator approval for an employee, and approved a school nurse at Brooks Elementary. It approved cyber teacher extra pay, internal movements, and a large list of fall, winter, and volunteer coaches across varsity, JV, and middle school sports. It also approved a summer help worker, student teacher placements, an STA bus monitor, and authorized the superintendent to fill positions before the June 23 meeting.

During audience comments, two parents raised concerns about lost football-season fundraising revenue and stadium construction planning. A resident asked whether the board would vote on football game locations at the June 23 meeting; an employee said plans were being finalized. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
