Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area Board of Education held a workshop meeting on June 23, 2026, called to order by the president at 7:10 p.m.; nine directors were present, and the board had met in executive session beforehand to discuss personnel and legal matters.

The board approved the monthly bills for payments between June 6 and June 19, 2026, split across the General Fund, Bond Issue, Food Services, and Activity funds. A director abstained from the Sitelogiq Construction payment due to a family conflict of interest. It adopted the Final General Fund Budget for 2026-2027, with expenditures of 105,272,989 and a millage rate of 26.0415 mills; a director voted against it. The board also adopted Resolution No. 2026-4 under the Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion Act and Resolution No. 2026-5, the final tax levy, which raised real estate mills to 26.0415; a director voted against both.

The board approved two change orders for exterior door frames at the fieldhouse and power supply relays at the stadium, pressbox, and indoor sporting facility, both funded from the Bond Issue Fund. It renewed district insurance through AssuredPartners for July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with the president abstaining due to a professional conflict of interest.

Among agreements, the board approved a waterline extension with the Moon Township Municipal Authority, subject to solicitor review and Bond Issue funding; a director voted against it. It approved a 72-month copier and printer lease with Precision Copy Products, a stadium scoreboard package from Digital Scoreboards, a PSBA Policy Services membership agreement, a field rental with Friends of Pittsburgh Professional Soccer at the AHN Montour Sports Complex, and a license agreement with Robert Morris University for two football games at Joe Walton Stadium on September 11 and October 30, 2026.

The board approved field trips for the dance teams to Girard, Ohio, and the boys basketball team to Phoenix, Arizona, all at no cost. In personnel, it accepted a resignation, approved a German teacher, and approved numerous coaches, adjustments, and hires, several pending clearances. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
