Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area School District Board of Education met August 10, 2026, approving the July 20 minutes and a suite of August financial reports, including the Treasurer's, Investment, Board Summary, High School/Middle School Activities, and Procurement Card reports. The board authorized the monthly bills covering July 18 to August 7, split across the General, Capital Reserve, Bond Issue, Food Service, and Activity funds.

The board approved three construction change orders—GC-CO-01, GC-CO-02, and SC-CO-03—capped at a specific amount from the Bond Issue Project Contingency. It signed an eight-year agreement with Allegheny Clinic, running July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2034, for sports medicine services and naming rights on the new indoor athletic facility as the AHN Tiger Center. The board also approved Pivotal Health Solutions for stadium and indoor facility lockers through TIPS Contract #230804, capped at a specific amount from the Bond Issue Fund, and passed Resolution No. 2026-6 to apply for a DCED Public School Facility Improvement Grant to replace the roof at McCormick Elementary School.

A participation agreement with City View Event Center moved the 412 High School Football Classic from West Allegheny to FNB Stadium, resulting in a cost saving. The board approved revised substitute pay rates with Precision HR Solutions, plus substitute nursing services from STAT Staffing Medical Services and out-of-district placements through WISCA, the Watson Institute, the Western PA School for the Deaf, and Adelphoi Education.

The board accepted four resignations and approved several hires, including four new staff members, along with support and long-term substitute staff. It rescinded an employee's hours change and approved internal movements, fall sports coaches, an activity sponsor, and two STA drivers. The board authorized the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, support, substitute, coach, and bus driver positions before the August 24 meeting.
