Board of Education Meeting

The Moon Area School District Board of Education held its business meeting on August 24, 2026, approving a wide range of financial, personnel, and operational items. The board authorized the monthly bills for the period August 8 to August 21, 2026, split across the General Fund, Capital Reserve, Bond Issue, Food Services, and Activity funds. It also approved two construction change orders—GC-CO-03 and SC-CO-04—funded from the Bond Issue Project Contingency. A five-year lease agreement with Pitney Bowes for the district's postage meter was approved.

The board approved the 2026-2027 bus stop list, field trips for the Varsity Dance Team to Girard and Canton, Ohio, and an out-of-district placement agreement with ACLD Tillotson. It adopted revised Policy No. 918 on Title I Parent and Family Engagement. Personnel actions included accepting resignations from three employees, approving a confidential settlement agreement for Employee ID #2863, and rescinding the approval of two football coaches.

New hires approved for the 2026-2027 year included seven employees, all pending clearances. The board approved mentors, extra-duty pay across the high school, middle school, and Allard and McCormick elementary schools, teachers carrying sixth classes or four preps, Safety Care trainers, STEAM class assignments, internal movements, and a change to the football assistant coaching staff. Independent contractor positions were approved for a school physician, dentist, optometrist, a student support coordinator, a prevention education specialist, and a social worker, along with event workers and STA drivers and monitors. The board also authorized the superintendent to fill administrative, professional, support, substitute, coaching, and bus driver positions before the next meeting on September 14, 2026.
