Environmental Advisory Committee Meeting

The Moon Township Environmental Advisory Council met on May 21, 2014, and approved the minutes from its March 19 meeting. Under new business, the council briefly reviewed plans for a larger parking lot adjacent to Patrick’s Pub as part of a rezoning request and found no environmental issues. In old business, members reported that the April 20 Earth Day event went well, with all plants distributed, a few donated to the park, and all children’s activity bags decorated; the council will revisit activities and handouts for next year in the fall. For the upcoming electronic recycling event on June 7, a council member requested additional help from JVS and at least two public works employees, with an employee expected to volunteer again. Members reviewed a map of new station locations and decided to swap Construction Junction with Global Links and place the dumpster near the back of the entrance roadway. A council member will advertise on the township bulletin board, and a council member will post a blurb on the Green Initiative Facebook page. Members will arrive around 7:00 am for setup; a council member will pick up water, tea, and fruit, a council member will get bagels, and a council member offered to order and pick up pizza. The council received user IDs and temporary passwords for the Board Docs software, where all future agendas and minutes will be posted by a council member. A council member will try to submit an article about green clothing and fabric for the summer issue of the Moon Messenger. The Director of Community Programming at MCA contacted a council member about interviewing her and another council member about the Farmers Market, recycling events, and other initiatives, with a tentative date of May 27. The council voted to cancel the July meeting instead of June, as a council member will be absent in July. The next meeting is scheduled for June 18, 2014, at 6:00 pm. The meeting adjourned at 6:35 pm.
