Board of Supervisors Budget Workshop Meeting

The Board of Supervisors held a budget workshop on October 12, 2022, to review the proposed 2023 General Fund budget. The Finance Director distributed updated handouts and walked through revenue and expense line items. The board made several specific adjustments. They removed $30,000 proposed for Park Connectivity and redirected that amount to pickleball courts for 2023. The contribution to Valley Ambulance was increased from $900 to $3,500. The Economic Development Consultant line was reduced from $30,000 to $10,000. The 5K Race Event budget was cut from $18,000 to $10,000, and the Independence Day Celebration was reduced from $50,000 to $41,000. The Finance Director also eliminated the 5K Race Event and Independence Day Celebration from the Parks expenses, moving those costs to Recreation Programs. A supervisor requested and the board agreed to increase the Mooncrest donation from $2,500 to $3,000. The $18,000 line for Township Communications under Elected Officials was removed. Total proposed General Fund revenues for 2023 were $16,829,279. Total proposed expenses, including $2.5 million in interfund transfers, came to $20,004,600. A supervisor voiced concern that the $20 million budget was too high given what he described as a recession, and urged cuts. The township manager presented health insurance benefit options for administrative employees. She asked the board for direction on how to proceed; a supervisor said the current process had worked in the past. The township manager suggested members review each line item before the next workshop on October 24. The meeting adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
