Board of Supervisors Regular Meeting

The Moon Township Board of Supervisors approved a series of action items at its June 5 regular meeting, including several contracts and change orders related to the ongoing police station construction. The board approved Change Order Requests No. 7, 8, 9, and 4 Revised from DiMarco Construction Co., Inc., which collectively resulted in a net increase of $11,650 to the General Construction Contract. These changes included deleting a floor security bench, adding blocking for TVs and casework, installing a roof communications platform for an antenna, and various wall and plumbing revisions. The board also approved a sponsorship agreement with Cavaliers Operating Company for upgrades to the Moon Park basketball courts, along with quotes from Play & Park Structures for new hoops and equipment ($23,700.67) and from Athleta Sport Courts for sealing and resurfacing ($9,945.00). An indemnification agreement with St. Philip's Church and Wolf Creek Race Management was approved for the Harvest Moon Run on November 9, and a second amendment to the Cargill, Inc. agreement extended the purchase option to December 31, 2024. The board also approved a $1,000 bronze sponsorship for the Sister Rene Procopio Golf Memorial Classic and terminated the Wings Over Pittsburgh agreement with the 911th Airlift Wing, remitting $2,612.32 in remaining funds to the Air Force. Bills were paid from the General Fund ($188,597.37), 2020 Bond Fund ($563,866.09), ARPA Fund ($49,958.82), Stormwater Fund ($74,570.50), Sponsorship Fund ($16,831.18), Capital Reserve Fund ($8,305.50), and Military Banner Fund ($63.21). During public comment, several residents raised concerns about the Baywood property on Coraopolis Heights Road, citing traffic, noise, and unpermitted construction. The solicitor clarified that no conditional use application has been accepted, and the board is considering legal options. The meeting recessed until June 12 at 4:30 p.m.
