Meet the school board

Nine people, elected by Moon Township, who vote on the district’s budget, its buildings and who works in them. Here is who they are, when they were elected, and — where they have said so publicly — why they ran.

Service figures are counted from the roll call in the district’s own minutes, which record who was present and who was absent at each meeting. They are a measure of time served, not a scorecard — a director on a conference call is counted present, and our archive does not reach back before August 2010.

Where this comes from

Names, roles and the meeting calendar come from the district’s own Board of Education page. Election dates and swearing-in are taken from the board’s minutes, which we hold in full. Biographies and any quotation come from what each director published while campaigning — campaign pages, candidate questionnaires and local news — and every card links back to its sources.

Vote totals and term dates come from Allegheny County’s certified returns. Where a director’s occupation could not be confirmed from a source we actually read, we leave it out rather than guess — so a card that says nothing about someone’s work means we could not confirm it, not that there is nothing to say.

We do not publish anything about a director’s family. Several campaign biographies name the candidate’s children, their ages and the school they attend; they published that themselves and we still do not repeat it. That someone is a parent of children in the district is the whole of what you will find here.

Something here out of date or incorrect? Tell us and we will fix it.
